Stelvio National Park - nature adventure

Grand summer with dream panoramas

Stelvio National Park

In South Tyrol, nature has many faces. Undoubtedly one of the most impressive of all can be seen in Stelvio/Stilfserjoch National Park and the Engadine Dolomites. The park, created in 1935, encompasses the entire Ortler Cevedale Massif, from the glaciated mountains at around 3,900 meters all the way down to the valley floor at 650 meters. The coexistence of pristine countryside and farmland, of mountain solitude and permanently inhabited farms, makes this protected area truly unique. For hikers, the national park seems like it jumped right out of a nature book: beautiful scenery, sparkling streams, plunging waterfalls, blissful tranquility, precipitous rocks and wildlife that has been nearly completely lost. Bearded vultures and golden eagles circle majestically overhead. Chamois, marmots and mountain hares flee their sharp eyes. Ibex, foxes and weasels also inhabit this extreme habitat.
